The restaurant industry has always been a big part of the family at Messina’s. Owners Peter and Patricia Ferrante actually met in a York County restaurant where both of them were working more than three decades ago. Together, they have gone on to combine family, quality and tradition at Messina’s, which first opened its doors in 2002.
Prior to that, Peter and Patricia worked seven days a week as newlyweds and began saving to buy their own restaurant. That finally came to reality in 1988 in the small town of Terre Hill, PA. After establishing more than a decade of success there, the Ferrantes moved onto a bigger venture and purchased Messina’s. The restaurant has remained family owned and operated to this very day. Messina’s is currently open all year around with the exception of Christmas, Easter and Thanksgiving. Here is a closer look at the people who have made up the heart and soul of Messina’s.
Peter came to America at 21 years of age and was born in Vittoria, Sicily. He immediately began working in the restaurant industry while living with family in York County. Peter has also worked his way up to becoming an excellent chef and has added real estate to his areas of expertise. He now works in that industry after years of mastering the craft of a restaurant proprietor.
Patricia runs the day-to-day operations at Messina’s with her daughter, Adriana. She prides herself on her familiarity with the customers and knows many of them on a first-name basis. Patricia was born in Carini, Sicily, and came to America when she was just four years old. She started working in the restaurant industry as a teenager. Patricia is now actively involved in community projects, including HOPE which is an organization that helps cancer patients. In her spare time, Patricia is an avid rhythm dancer with her partner and husband Peter.
Adriana has worked at Messina’s since she was very young and recently earned a culinary degree from the York Business Institute. She actually graduated along with her father, Peter, the two attended classes together. Adriana enjoys cooking and also handles inventory at Messina’s along with aiding in the business side of things. Recently married, Adriana is looking forward to raising a family and spends a good portion of her free time immersed in the world of fitness.
